Chinese acupuncture or cosmetic facial rejuvination has been performed since the time of the Sung dynasty (960AD-1279AD). The Empress & Emperor as well as his concubines and those of the royal court would receive facial rejuvination by the Court appointment acupuncturist. Herbs and various topical creams would also be employed to assist the body in rejuvination.
There are super fine needles used today on the face as well as the body to increase blood flow and energy to the face. The act of increasing blood flow and qi will increase collagen production by diminishing lines and wrinkles. An acupuncture facial rejuvination can also re-hydrate and tone the skin providing a more youthful glow. In addition, facial rejuvination can help to lift the jowl line and relax tense neck muscles. Other benefits of facial acupuncture include decreasing puffy eyes, decreasing hyper or hypo pigmentation and decreasing furrow lines (between eyebrows).
Generally a series of 10-15 treatments provides the best benefit with several follow up treatments depending on patient’s needs. There are a few health/medical restrictions that you must check with your acupuncturist before beginning treatment.
